Minor bug fixes: 2001-Oct-18
Fixed minor bug in Repeated Sail #'s On Times sheet, race 3 did not detect the duplicates.
Added test for classes with less than TWO boats. Without this test, the scoring macro pukes.
Latest Enhancements: 2001-Aug-17
Repeated Sail #'s on Times sheet are identified by hilighting them Yellow.
Class Flags Start Sequence mode was added to make it easier to use this new starting sequence. The original mode is still available.
Time Entry Form to be printed out and filled in on the race committee boat. This minimizes the problem of deciphering finish times scribbled on scraps of paper.
Latest Portsmouth Numbers are pre-loaded. US Sailing changed the format of their Portsmouth web page, and the automatic update code was modified to work with the new format.
Missing Sail #'s Identified When entering the finish times of the boats, the Sail numbers that have not yet been entered, are highlighted on the registration sheet.
Data entry is much easier using the Boat Data Entry Form. Type the first letter of the boat class and all matching entries displayed. Click the correct one or finish typing it. The modification factors are also displayed when you move the cursor into the modification text box.
The Boat Data Base remembers the skipper, crew, boat class and sail number. These can be recalled on the Boat Data Entry Form by typing a few characters of the skipper's last name or the sail number. If there are multiple matches, just click the right one. (Note: the data base is pre loaded with about 150 boats from the Florida circuit.)
Entering the finish times is much easier on the Times sheet. Just enter the sail numbers in the order the boats crossed the line. For open class boats, also add the finish time. The start offset from the white flag is subtracted from each class. 3 or 5 minute sequences are handled as are general recalls.
The boats are automatically split into classes (5 boats is a class), other boats are put into open class.
If there are more than a dozen boats in the open class, it will be split into a high and low class of at least five boats each. These pre assignments may be over ridden as desired.
Help instructions were added for each page.
Tie breaking rules were added. (Three way ties are not handled)
The Export Compact File and Import Compact File functions save and restore only the input data and results. These files are quite small, about 100K verses 3.5M-4.5M for the full spreadsheet and data.
Solutions to some problems:
This spreadsheet uses Macros. You must click "Enable Macros" when the spreadsheet starts up.
If you are using excel 2000, and you do not get the "Enable Macros" dialog when you start up, you will have to change the security setting to "Medium". This is on the menu: Tools -> Macros -> Security.
