SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

1 RULES

The race will be governed by the rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing.

2 ENTRIES

Competitors may enter by signing the race log and paying the $25 entry fee to the Racing Master before 11:00am on August 13, 2011. This fee includes food and beverages. This race is for green fleet and beginners only. Opti’s, Laser’s, 420‘s and Sunfish. Halifax will supply as many boats as possible. Participating sailing clubs are requested to provide additional boats as needed.

3 NOTICES TO COMPETITORS

Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located on the blackboard.

4 SIGNALS MADE ASHORE

Signals made ashore will be displayed from the dock. If a postponement is signaled ashore, the warning signal will be made not less than 5 minutes after AP is lowered.

5 SCHEDULE

Registration will be from 10-11:30am. A competitors’ meeting will be held at 12:00pm under the pavilion. The warning signal for the first race will be at 1230. Subsequent races will be held as soon as possible after the end of the previous race. Preregistration is requested online at www.fleet80.com

6 RACING AREA and REQUIREMENTS

The racing area will be in the Halifax River in front of HSA as indicated in the course layout. All competitors must use safety equipment [PFD/shoes] at all times or be disqualified.

7 COURSE and MARKS

The course and marks will be as shown on the blackboard during competitors meeting.

8 STARTING AND FINISHING LINES

The starting and finishing lines will be designated on the course diagram. The Sound Signal Starting System of Appendix S 3 of the racing rules will be used.

9 TIME LIMIT

There will be no time limit for each race for the first boat to finish.

PROTESTS

Protests shall be delivered to the pavilion within ten after the race committee finishes boat docks. The protest time limit and a list of protests received will be posted on the notice board. Hearings will be held as soon as possible after racing each day in the pavilion.

10 SCORING Participation and competitor’s awards. All scores will count.

11 COACHING Coaching will be allowed to all sailors in the second half of the fleet
